The company VooPoo is not on hearing as other, more popular brands, but after the release of the new Drag model, it has every chance to be in the epicenter of discussions. The model has a modest design, but an advanced “filling”. It is difficult to find a function that the mod could not offer.
The main feature of Drag is that the mod is based on the VooPoo Gene board, and not on the familiar DNA vamps. As a result, a completely different functional and features. For example, the manufacturer claims that this is the fastest mode in the world – only 0.025 seconds pass between pressing the Fire button and supplying current to the evaporator.
Looks Drag quite modestly for its functionality. This is a standard rectangular box-mode with cut corners. On the ergonomics it does not affect – in the hand the device lays down well enough. Dimensions are 90 x 54 x 24 mm, so for an inconspicuous pairing Drag is not suitable.
In terms of colors, the choice is not so great. The body of zinc alloy is made only in silver color, but on the side there is an insert made of carbon, which can already have a wide variety of colors. Initially, the manufacturer offered only a brown and black insert, and then released a “sub-series” of Drag Resin, which added a black body color and a huge number of inserts such as a picture of coral, wood, rainbow and so on.
The build quality of Drag is very good. Vapers report that even when the external screws are unscrewed, the structure remains intact – obviously, there are hidden fasteners. The details are well adjusted to each other, no backlash is observed.
Available only after firmware upgrade to version 184.108.40.206. Allows you to adjust the voltage from 0.5 to 7.5 V with a step change of 0.1 V.
From 5 to 157 W with a step change of 1 W. Also, the board allows you to flexibly adjust the preheating, or rather the power curve, to select a specific power value for every second of 10. For example, 100 watts in the first second, 120 in the second, and 75 in the third. Mod can memorize up to 5 presets of the power curve.
When the power is increased above 129 Watts, the Drag shifts from the varivatta to the so-called “Super” mode. It is no different from varivatta, but the minimum resistance rises from 0.05 ohms to 0.1 ohms.

Temperature control (TC)
From 200 to 600 ° F or from 100 to 315 ° C in increments of 1 degree. Temperature control is possible on nickel, titanium and stainless steel, also through the settings using a computer, you can turn on TC mode on nichrome and TCR for an arbitrary metal. The coefficient of temperature resistance can be flexibly adjusted both through the mod menu and through the computer.
In the TC mode, you can block the resistance and even adjust it if the mod determines it inaccurately for some reason. Power can also be set manually, but only up to 80 watts.
As in the varivatta, in the thermal control mode there is a function for setting the temperature curve – you can set the temperature of the helix heating for each second of the delay and store up to 5 different presets.
Accuracy of the board, sabot
In the varivatt mode, the resistance range is from 0.05 to 3 ohms, when crossing the threshold at 129 W the lower limit increases to 0.1 Ohm. In the TC mode, the range is 0.05 – 1.5 Ohms. Because of the cut corners, it’s good to look at the Drag only atomizers with a diameter of up to 22 mm, and then they will already be slightly bulging.
The accuracy of the board is the main feature of the model, and the manufacturer’s words are confirmed. Tolerances and errors are prescribed in the instruction. For example, the error of power is indicated as 2%, and this is true – the board honestly gives 157 W, regardless of the discharge of batteries. This became possible with the new power compensation technology. Probably, such an unusual value of maximum power is connected with honesty. In VooPoo did not talk about marketing 160 or 180 watts, and they said directly, at what maximum power their mod will work.
Drag operates on two removable 18650 batteries. Correct operation requires batteries with a current output of 35 A. The batteries are connected in series, so you can not soar on one.
You can charge the batteries in a separate charger or directly inside the Drag at an increased current of 1.8 A. The manufacturer sometimes indicates the current strength of 2 A, but in the manual it is written exactly 1.8 A with an error of 5%, which, in principle, allows you to talk about charging 2 A .
The battery compartment is balanced, so the batteries are charged evenly and safely. On the possibility of floating and charging at the same time, VooPoo company did not leave instructions, but certainly it is not recommended. The battery compartment cover is attached to the paired magnets, the contacts of the compartment are spring-loaded. The minimum battery voltage is 3.2 V.
Drag has a large 0.91-inch display, which displays all the necessary information: power, voltage, resistance, battery power and the name of the soaring mode.
The screen can be flipped, and when connected to a computer, adjust its brightness, activity time, and change all the inscriptions from the logo to technical messages like Check Atomizer.

Drag has a full set of protections:
- from short circuit;
- from recharge / overdischarge;
- from high / low resistance;
- from high / low voltage;
- from improper installation of batteries;
- from overheating of the board;
- from overheating of the evaporator (cut-off at the 10th second, you can set less);
- from battery imbalance;
- Vent holes for the removal of gases from the batteries.
Drag can be updated using special software from the official site . This application is also a powerful tool for setting up all the functions of the mod (more details in “Management”). Through the program you can download a new version of the firmware, connect the device via USB to the computer and start the update, which will be automatically.
At the moment there is a firmware 220.127.116.11 which fixes some flaws, adds a varivolt mode and allows you to block not only the “+” and “-” buttons, but also Fire.
Drag can be controlled both through its own menu, and through the computer with the help of an official application. To turn the mode on and off, you need to click Fire five times. Three presses allow you to switch between steaming modes. Four presses in the TC mode will adjust the power, and in the mode of the varivatta and thermal control presets, the power and temperature curves, respectively.
The combination of Fire and “+” blocks the buttons. Fire and “-” flip the screen. Clamping “+” and “-” simultaneously opens the menu mode where you can select and configure one of the five presets, find the serial number of the mod and the firmware version. In the TC mode, there are additional options in the menu: adjustment of the resistance and temperature coefficient of the spiral material.
The application for the computer allows you to perform all the above actions, as well as a number of others. For example, enable and disable TC modes on various metals, adjust screen brightness, change modem messages, cut-off time (maximum 10 seconds), and so on.

Feedback and experience
Drag definitely liked the steamers, though many spoke about the fashion as a “test ball” of the new board. This impression is justified, since both appearance and some functions seem to be inappropriate to the board’s potential. For example, all upset the top of the mod, allowing without “overhang” to wind only atomizers with a diameter of 22 mm. Given that the majority of experienced steamers have long since switched to 24 and 25 mm drips and clerks, such a decision seems strange. And Drag is definitely not aimed at beginners, because such a functional is unlikely to come in handy.
In other respects, VooPoo products are only praised. The main feature of the model is the motherboard, and it exactly worked out as it should. The manufacturer gives a 1-year warranty on Drag, as well as a lifetime warranty for the repair of the board. And that says a lot.
With all its advantages Drag is quite inexpensive – 2300 – 4000 rubles (for version Resin with bright inserts you have to pay about 200 rubles more). This is definitely an application for success, and the vamps are looking forward to a new model from VooPoo, which uses the new board more rationally.
